Former CPP-NPA member surrenders in Tarlac

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Jan. 12 (PIA) -- A former member of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (CPP-NPA) surrendered to police in Tarlac.

50-year old "Ka Gringo" is a former member of Sangay sa Yunit Propaganda Kilusang Larangang Guerilla operating in the municipalities of Capas and San Jose.

Police Regional Director PBGen. Valeriano De Leon said that it is another achievement for Central Luzon police as it supports the implementation of President Duterte's Executive Order No. 70 which is to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC).

"Our strengthened campaign once again paid off as another former CPP-NPA member voluntarily surrendered to authorities," De Leon said.

"Ka Gringo" handed over one .30 caliber M1 US carbine with one magazine and nine pieces live ammo.

"Police Regional Office 3, together with all member agencies of the Regional Task Force on ELCAC continues this whole of sector approach against communist terrorist to achieve peace and national unity," De Leon furthered. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
